Jimmy Wanninger, known throughout the Marin Real Estate
Community as Jimmy Marin, has been buying, selling, flipping, and
otherwise making property move one way or another for well over a
decade. HGTV should send a truck over there immediately for this
reality show. I happened upon him about 6 years ago in the Golden
Days of The Good Guys, where I worked as a System Designer. I
came in about a third of the way through the transformation of his
Corte Madera Hilltop Home, and took over what I like to refer to as
the "Winchester Mystery House" of Audio and Video Integration.
As I filled in the blanks and upgraded gear in 2 theaters, then a
3rd, then audio to 4 more locations, I could hear "keep buildinggggg .
. ." in the background as I wired up more and more speakers. At this
point - and believe me this is a moving target - Jimmy has a 6.1
Surround Theater in his Living Room, a 5.1 Surround Theater in his
Master Bedroom, A 7.1 Surround Theater in his Basement Level
Office, and distributed audio that goes to over 7 locations. He also has
an integrated LCD in his Kitchen cabinetry, and another LCD in his
guest room. I may be losing count, but I think that's 34 speakers and
5 displays. Wow.
As we updated and nailed down his gear selection, 2 of his existing
receivers became less than usable, (I won't name names but the
company starts with a "Y" and rhymes with ha ha ha), and he took it
in stride as we updated everything to bullet-proof Denon Receivers
with second zone functionality hitting many many speakers. All of
his remotes are Universal Remote Control MX-850's with wireless
base stations. All of his speakers are lifetime warranty Sonance in-
ceiling speakers.
