Fred Duncan, bay area native and local businessman, took the
infamous local tavern, The Carlos Club, and expanded the floorplan,
turning it into an upscale cocktail lounge in the process. The location
is directly across El Camino from the San Carlos Caltrain Station, so
it's the perfect pre-Giants, Niners, or Sharks pit stop. If you're
heading through San Carlos, even via train, take a quick break at this
piece of Peninsula history.
Fred wanted enough flatpanels to be a sports bar, but enough
sound support to roll on into the night with the DJ. So we set up 4
big screens, 3 50's and a 42. There are 4 DirecTV receivers and a DVD
player that are matrixed through B&K Switching Gear to feed any of
the displays. Individual control is provided by Universal Remote
Control's MX-850/MRF-350 wireless combination, as well as a
wall-mounted B&K keypad. Upstairs we set Fred up with a 5.1
Surround Theater in his private lounge with flush in-ceiling Sonance
Speakers and in-wall Subwoofer. From the private lounge, he can
wirelessly access anything in the rack or tune in to what his
customers are watching or listening to downstairs.
